When The Accused Had To Show Her Butts To The Judge
Provocation or proof?
Everyone present was thrilled and equally mystified by what happened in the courtroom that blissful morning. She just turned around, bent her upper body, so low that her head nearly touched the ground, her lower body straightened up, and the whole image almost sent everyone out of their chair. Did she break the law that time or did the judge specifically ask for it? Well, one thing was certain. It proves the woman’s innocence.
You may be wondering what she was accused of. Well, I think you know that in the 80s there were some petty acts considered an offense. And, this 20-year-old here, was a dancer in Florida. She was arrested and accused along with two other dancers, her friends of immorality. Florida, in the 80s — being one of the many United states regions that didn’t allow nudity of any kind in public places such as pubs, and restaurants — did punish those who broke this law. This immorality law was put in place to protect people from diseases of any kind, which was very reasonable for a time with relatively low medical health care.
There was no CCTV camera nor was there any witness who was ready to testify against them, especially not the girls that they pleasure themselves with. Unfortunately for the police, all there was for the prosecution was the report of two police officers that took them in.
Jim Damaske, the man who caught the moment, says that many people thought the incident to be a provocative act like I did myself, but he was there to witness the whole development. Why don’t you see for yourself, I mean for you to take a critical look at the photo again and see how serious the other persons in the court were.
Jim Damaske — retired reported — at the time was working for Clearwater Sun Newspaper, as their technical photographer. He revealed along with the meaning of the image that the defense counsel had tipped the company that something like that was going to happen. And like most organizations in the media industry would have done, they hurriedly sent him over along with a reporter to catch a story.
Judge Demers’s Position
Now, let’s talk about the judge, who simply sat firmly on his chair, while, whether he liked it or not, stared at the stripper. Demer was only four months at the job, and there was no way he would allow such a small case shakes his career. So, when the defense counsel said that what the police said they saw was not at all close to being a crime and that the only way to prove that was a demonstration, Demer said there was no way he would allow such an indecency in the room. But the girls had already turned around, showing him their buttocks.
Judge Demer, in an interview years later, said that he decided not to show any facial expression because it wouldn’t matter if he smile or frown, this message would surely be misunderstood. He stared for a moment and declared that their undies were indeed not too short.
